FTK in 2013
For the King has had an amazing start to 2013. We’ve been blessed to be a part of what God is doing in the city of Tacoma through college students. We’ve seen hundreds of students come through the doors and have had several new Fight Clubs start up as more students are desiring to be in community with one another and diligently follow Jesus.
January included a series called “Love is” where we studied how God loves us, so we would know how to love one another. Our study led us to see that God’s love is dangerous as it takes risks to seek the highest good for another. It’s relentless in that it doesn’t stop if the love isn’t returned. And love is painful because at times the most loving thing to do involves discipline, but God is not … Read More »

Hanging out with Huckabee
As I’m writing this I’m sitting in the JFK airport coming home from the Fox News interview with Governor Mike Huckabee. Man! It was easily one of my favorite trips of all time. He and his staff were beyond gracious and a huge blessing to me and the friend that I travelled with. If you are here because you watched the segment, I first just want to say thank you! There is nothing that excites me more than being able to share and talk about Jesus on a national stage. Love it!
As I mentioned in the segment, ‘For The King’ ministries just recently launched this fall. Just to give you some background, me and some buddies of mine had a huge heart for the city as well as for college students. Tacoma is a huge urban demographic with 5 … Read More »
For The King: September 7th Recap
For the King had its first gathering Friday night at Pacific Lutheran University. About 115 students came out to worship Jesus and study his word. Students were challenged to consider how they would respond to the call given to Isaiah in chapter 6. Jeff Cherry shared that without a proper view of God and sin we can’t fully appreciate what’s been given to us in the cross of Jesus, which allows us to respond with the same words as Isaiah, “Here am I. Send me.”
Students were given the opportunity to connect with our small groups called Fight Clubs, where we fight for faith, purity, and the Gospel. We also had a number of students want to get involved with music and serving in other ways to make the Friday night gathering happen.
We met an international student from … Read More »
Welcome to For The King
Welcome to the new For The King website. We hope it encourages you and pushes you closer to Jesus. For the King is a simple reminder that because we’ve been given everything in Jesus, we want our lives to be about making much of Jesus. We want to constantly ask, are we viewing everything in our lives as gifts from God that we can steward in such a way to make Him famous. We hope to provide resources on this website that will encourage others to live out the Gospel in their communities while showing how that is happening in our own.
For the King exists to bring glory to God by raising up young adults to maturity in Christ who love, serve, and share the Gospel as His church in everyday life, with their cities and campuses. With … Read More »
